About Me

I'm Manuel Gil, a software developer. I build and carry open source tools - mostly VSCode extensions, npm packages, and small utilities. I work with TypeScript, Angular, NestJS, VueJS, and PHP.

I started self-taught. I still work mostly alone. Some of the things I've built have been downloaded and used more than I expected. I remain responsible for what I publish, but I don't promise availability or support.

What I Actually Do

  • Carry existing tools: A real part of what I do is keeping things working where I can - updating dependencies, fixing bugs, ensuring compatibility. Not all projects get the same attention or pace.
  • Build new things when needed: I still create new tools, but only when there's a real gap. VSCode extensions, npm packages, browser utilities - whatever the problem asks for.
  • Talk about it sometimes: I've spoken at events and meetups about open source and the tools I carry. I do this when I have something honest to say, not to build an audience.
  • Use AI and messy workflows: I use whatever helps me get the work done - AI, forks, rough prototypes. But I review everything that ships. I'm responsible for what gets published.

What I Work With

  • TypeScript, Angular, VueJS
  • NestJS, PHP
  • VSCode extension development
  • npm packages and CLI tools

Limits

  • I work alone on most of this
  • My time is limited - response is not guaranteed
  • Some projects are more active than others
  • I prioritize stability over new features
